In 2019, British sports car manufacturer Morgan will be celebrating its 110th birthday – and no automotive anniversary is complete these days without a special-edition model to celebrate.
To be fair to Morgan, 110 years as an independently owned company is fairly good going in the car industry, so it’s easy to forgive the introduction of not just one special-edition, but one for each model in the range.
That range currently includes the 4/4, Plus 4, Roadster and of course the 3-Wheeler, and each gains unique badging and a range of styling and specification upgrades to denote them as anniversary models.
Kicking off with the 3-Wheeler (as perhaps the model harking back to the earliest point in the company’s history), the upgrades include quilted leather stitching for the seats, storage pockets (look, that’s significant in a car as basic as the 3-Wheeler) and a mohair tonneau cover.
The car will also be available in any colour from those recently introduced to the 3-Wheeler range, with black roll hoops behind the cockpit, black exhaust heat shields and a body-colour engine cowl.
The Plus 4 and Roadster both get a race-inspired front valance, rear-exit sports exhaust and leather bonnet strap, while inside there’s the choice of a leather or wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel, performance seats, a mohair hood and a choice of Yarwood leather trim options.
For no extra cost, customers will also be able to specify a 110th anniversary logo stitched into the headrests.
These models probably won’t be the last we’ll hear from Morgan in its 110th year, either, with several other announcements planned.
